Sounds like some sketchy shell company to legally (although circuitously) buy luxury cars for luxury cars being exported to people with their money hiding in off shore accounts. The position is probably completely legit, but probably is a lot of hassle for what its worth.

The commission is probably based on how far below MSRP you get. Almost certainly a 1099 job.

Scam, you’d be on the hook for the tax bill on the vehicle.

It’s technically a straw purchase, which in itself isn’t illegal. But something is definitely funny here. If this was such a great deal the add poster would be having a friend or family member buying the cars and not trying to bring in people thru internet adds.

Legit, yes, they are an export company, and the position is as a straw buyer. While totally legal, the manufacturers do not like their cars being sold to straw buyers, who work for exporters. In some cases the dealership can face penalties if they sell too many cars that end up in foreign markets. This means you will likely face a lot of scrutiny and questions from the dealer, as to why you are paying cash for a new car, and refusing to finance. It is also why dealership offer lower prices if you finance rather than pay cash.

The down side is, you can only work for them for a limited time, and are limited to only a few purchases. Also if they discover that you where acting as a straw purchaser for an exporter, you will be black flagged and it may make it difficult to purchase a new car in your future. Lastly, the auto-manufactures tried to make this illegal, and for a while the DOJ even arrested and seized assets from some people. while they were let go, and everything returned, I am sure it was a hassle they would rather have not gone through. That said the government is no longer helping the manufacturers on this since it is legal, the only consequence is what ever the manufacturers can manage, which is pretty much black flagging your name and sharing it with dealers to make your life difficult.

there have been a few articles about this on here, I am sure someone may find them.
